摘要:Based on mathematical equations of physical fields, numerical simulation has far grown out of a scientific method into a popular technique of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). Numerical simulation of electromagnetic waves play a significant role in designing communication devices and builds up core competitiveness between communication device giants. HFSS, CST, Feko and Comsol are the famous software dominated the global service to aid the design of communication devices. In spite of differences in detail, they share the similar components of geometry model, configuration, solver, post-processor and visualization toolkit. As the relevant open-source resources emerge nowadays, the design of communication devices is deemed to be more deeply customized. In the last several years, we dug into open-source platforms such as FeeCAD, Elmer, Gmsh and VTK and explored the possibility to develop a copyrighted software for the design of communication devices with a limited investment, and resulted in the release of EML beta. EML beta supports the design of detection devices, wave guides, antennas, wave filters and antenna arrays, including those which embedded composite medias. The presentation will focus on the algorithm and the performance examination of EML beta in comparison with the dominant EM simulation software HFSS. In addition, the coupled simulation of EM waves with heat and/or mechanics will also be discussed.

主讲人简介:

Since 1993, I was engaged in numerical simulation, for the objects from fluid mechanics to marine ecosystems and then to electromagnetic dynamics, with the methodology from finite difference method to finite element method, for investigation and also application. My research focus was concentrated on ocean physical and biogeochemical dynamics, including marine ecosystems, circulation systems, tides, oil spills, sediments and so on. Recently, my interest was more motivated by the prosperous future of numerical simulation technique in application to industrial design.
